Consultant outcomes included in publication

In 2013, NHS England and the Healthcare Quality Improvement Partnership (HQIP) put forward that consultant activity and clinical outcomes must continue to be published in order to keep the NHS transparent.

The surgeon profiles are reviewed and developed by the National Joint Registry, the British Orthopaedic Association (BOA), and other specialist orthopaedic societies. This ensures that the content published is beneficial to both patients and the public.

Consultants that have carried out hip, ankle, knee, shoulder and elbow procedures that were funded by the NHS will be part of the publication at NHS Choices.

Clinician Feedback, NJR and BOA will advertise the most suitable time for consultants that practice in Wales, Northern Ireland or privately, if other consultants wish to opt-in to be included in the publication.
