Amplitude Clinical Outcomes offers a single instance platform for both National PROMs and NJR

Historically, it has been impossible to make direct linkages between National PROMs and NJR datasets, as these two separate databases are run and managed by two separate organisations. Currently, National PROMs is managed by NHS England, and the NJR registry is governed by the National Joint Registry Steering Committee.

Amplitude Clinical Outcomes has developed a solution that links these two datasets together in one platform, with data available in real-time for use as a clinical tool as well as for audit and research.  The pro enterprise™ platform provides hospitals with a simple process to collect PROMs data as well as NJR data, all as part of a continuous and connected workflow.  Each month, both datasets are sent electronically to the relevant organisations, whilst the hospital benefits from retaining all their data locally and having immediate access to it, whenever required.

Simple compliance monitoring means hospitals can proactively work to exceed threshold compliance rates required for Best Practice Tariff uplift, which can result in significant additional revenue.

When using the Amplitude pro enterprise™ platform, hospitals can add further clinical context by entering complexity factors and comorbidities, thereby ensuring a complete picture is obtained of their actual clinical effectiveness.

The system also has an alert function which means clinicians are notified when a patient is not recovering as expected.  This proactive patient management is not only good for the patient, but this early intervention can often result in lower overall cost of treatment.

The system has extensive reporting capability that allows hospitals to analyse their own data to a level of granularity that has never previously been possible, allowing for clinical and service quality research and audit.

The process of collecting PROMs and NJR data sets:
  1. Pre-op Q1 PROMs is entered by the patient into the Amplitude platform via the Patient Portal.
  2. At the time of surgery, the NJR dataset is captured by the relevant Clinician or their delegate.
  3. The system automatically contacts patients via email and SMS, post-op at the relevant time intervals to complete their Q2 PROMs.
  4. Hospitals can elect to send patients a Complications questionnaire at 6 weeks and 6 months with positive responses flagged to the Consultant for validation
